The Catoctin Fish and Game Association is pleased to announce that Tate Ondrik is the winner of the 2024 club scholarship. He is an Honor student at Linganore H.S. and carries a 3.96 GPA. Tate will attend the University of Tennessee this fall and major in Natural Resources Management- Soil and Water Conservation.
Tate enjoys fishing, hunting, kayaking and mountain bike riding. He is active in the Linganore FFA Chapter, Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Team and Pennsylvania Youth Rodeo Team and has received many awards in these organizations.
Tate has been involved in many community service projects including maintaining the Royal Oaks Mountain Bike Trail System, Great Frederick Fair Landscaping Project and Foxie G Foundation, a non-profit organization that rehabilitates retired race horses.
Tate became interested in pursuing a career in the outdoors through his involvement in both the FFA Natural Resources Team and the Forestry Management Team. Both teams were State Champions in 2021-22. He states that "I want to become a soil conservationist to help farmers make the most out of the land while simultaneously helping them implement practices that will preserve the quality of surrounding bodies of water".
